The beloved Don Juan
The Don Juan Fund For Emergency Vet Care :
This is a picture of our beloved lover boy two days before he went to the rainbow bridge. For more info please visit www.gothamcitykitties.org.
We have $ 8,400.00 in vet bills from 2007 and 2008. We are 100% volunteer so 100% of your donation goes straight to our vet bills. NO SALARIES ARE PAID. Generally, our adoption fees cover most of the vet bills for a healthy cat. Many of our rescues need surgeries, x-rays, sonograms and dental cleanings. Each dental cleaning can run $400+ and that is with a generous discount from our vet! PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TODAY. Tell friends and family members. Every little bit helps.
Who We Are
Gotham City Kitties, Inc. is a 501c3 organization that rescues cats/kittens from all five boroughs and from people who are no longer able to provide for their animals. All of our cats and kittens are given complete medical exams, blood tested for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated to the point their age allows and provided with any/all medical care as necessary. Complete vet records are provided to all adopters.
ADOPTING A FURRY FRIEND
Due to our foster home network, our cats are shown by appointment only or when we are able to attend Mayor's Alliance Adoption Events. You MUST fill out a Pre-Adoption Questionnaire PRIOR to meeting our adoptees. Please send us an email to receive an application or download one via our permanent website, www.gothamcitykitties.org.
We always deliver cats/kittens to their new homes and are available thereafter by phone/email to help with adjustment issues. Complete vet records will be provided at the time of adoption and/or we can have our vet fax them directly to your vet. We use Dr. Andrew Kaplan, Dr. Bonnie Brown and staff at City Veterinary Clinic on West 72nd Street/Broadway. 212.799.7000. Feel free to call for a reference.
RETURN POLICY
We will accept the CAT/KITTEN back from you at ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE if the adoption does not work out or if your living situation changes. You will be asked to sign a LEGAL adoption agreement stating that you will not give the cat/kitten to a person unknown to GCK or take it to a shelter. Since we always take our rescues back at any time there is no need for you to do so.
SURRENDERING YOUR PET OR RESCUE:
As of the SUMMER OF 2007 we ARE NOT currently accepting any new rescues or surrendered pets (UNLESS they were adopted from GCK previously). If you need to SURRENDER your personal pet the best we can do is place him/her on our website and invite you to attend upcoming adoption events.
Please also visit www.animalalliancenyc.org or www.aspca.org for a list of additional rescue groups, search for others on Petfinder or ask your local veterinarian to help!
Please note the ACC -Animal Care and Control is still a KILL SHELTER -The ACC is contracted with the city to take in strays. A "SURRENDERED" pet is not a stray and are often euthanized the same day for cage space.
Think about what you are doing to your beloved pet before you take him/her there. Currently 70% of ALL CATS are euthanized and 50% of ALL DOGS are euthanized at ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL of NYC.
